Glasgow Warriors have announced that star Chris Fusaro will go under the knife after he sustained an injury during last Sunday's defeat in Toulouse.

The Scotland international suffered damage to his right ankle in the European Rugby Champions Cup defeat in France as Glasgow went down 19-11 on the day.

And after being sent to Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow yesterday for an MRI scan, he is now expected to be out for some time as a result of an operation to correct the injury.

Following surgery the flanker will then undergo a period of rehab and the length of he will be out of action for will be determined at a later date.

Warriors have also confirmed that Adam Ashe will be sidelined for several weeks with a neck injury, sustained playing for Scotland against New Zealand at BT Murrayfield last month.

Glasgow head coach Gregor Townsend said: "Both Chris (Fusaro) and Adam (Ashe) have been playing really well and this is a setback for them.

"We wish them all the best with their rehab and look forward to welcoming them back into the squad in the New Year."

Meanwhile Toulouse star Romain Millo-Chluski believes it will be a battle of wits at the weekend if the French club are to defeat an 'intelligent' Warriors outfit.

The hosts overpowered Glasgow in the pool match but the Scots could go back top of their section with a victory at Scotstoun this weekend.

And Millo-Chluski said: "Not many people talk about but Glasgow is a very competitive team, intelligent.

"The adjectives do not fail to describe it. It will be for us to at least replicate the good performance of last Sunday. We have some details to correct, knowing that the next meeting will be complicated, with a hostile crowd. All the ingredients are there to make a great match of the European Cup.

"We do not expect to have perfect weather in Glasgow. It moves us to even more concentration knowing that every pass will be complicated to perform.

"Vigilance will be needed to put us in the conditions of a very high level. We know the quality of players that make up the Glasgow team.

"For now, we have the cards. The big plus is that they have not taken a defensive bonus from us but everything will be questioned if we pass through there."
