ADAM ASHE revevelled in a full debut to remember as he helped Glasgow Warriors to a bonus-point win over Connacht.

The 21-year-old started his first game for the Scotstoun club at No.8 on Friday night in a 39-21 triumph, a victory which not only takes them level on points with GUINNESS PRO12 leaders Ospreys but continued their 100% start to the campaign.

And the Scotland cap, who has overcome a series of hamstring injuries, savoured every moment in front of nearly 6000 home fans.

He said: "It's fantastic. I've been here for a couple of years now coming through the academy system. I've watched a lot of the matches from the stand and all you want to do is get out there.

"It great to go out there and get a win. The crowd were amazing again in what was near enough a full house. It's brilliant to play in front of that."

Warriors were under no illusions as to how difficult it would be to keep their winning start to the season going given Connacht came to Glasgow looking to do exactly the same.

However, despite the odd mistake in defence, Townsend's troops never looked like relinquishing the lead after Stuart Hogg put them ahead after 18 minutes.

"It was a fantastic win. To get over 30 points against Connacht is tremendous," added Ashe.

"We kind of slipped up defensively a couple of times, which let them in.

"But I thought we attacked really well. A lot of flair, a lot of breakaway tries which was nice to see. First half the scrum was solid and it gave a good platform, it was nice to get few passes off the back there."

Warriors now have to wait until Sunday before they find out if their winning streak will extend to five matches on the spin.

The Glasgow outfit travel to Italy to face Benetton Treviso already knowing a win will send them clear at the top of the PRO12 table with Ospreys playing Zebre this Friday night.

Townsend added: "Treviso are a tough team at home, but we have got confidence throughout the squad and the tempo they played at on Friday was fantastic."
