Speirs tells his Spiders to keep up good work

GARDNER SPEIRS hopes Queen's Park can pick up where they left off as they prepare for their first match of the new season.

The Spiders had an impressive campaign in the Irn-Bru Third Division last season and head into their Ramsdens Cup clash at Berwick in high spirits.

Hampden manager Speirs said: "We have had a good pre-season and we are glad to be back in competitive action tomorrow.

"The players would have been anticipating the start of the new season after we did so well last year – apart from the play-offs, of course. We did have a good season and want to build on that."
