STUART McCALL has demanded more from his misfiring Motherwell squad after the Fir Park fringe stars failed to shine against Hamilton.

The Steelmen boss made seven changes to the side that lost to Accies last Wednesday for the Premiership clash but saw his side slump to a 4-0 defeat.

The likes of Simon Ramsden, Stuart Carswell, Lee Erwin and Bob McHugh all came into the line-up but the reshuffle didn't have the desired effect as Well suffered a third straight home loss.

Well are 10th in the top flight table after a poor start to the campaign and McCall knows his squad have to up their game sooner rather than later if they are to turn things around.

He said: "There won't be people who can come and knock on my door and say they deserve another chance.

"When you get your opportunity you have got to try and take it.

"Listen, it is difficult when you have young lads in there.

"I thought Leitchy (Jack Leitch), again, gave everything he has got.

"There are certain people you know that you can rely on.

"They might not be the best footballers in the world but you can rely on people.

"There are other ones you think ... you have got to demand more from them, they have got to demand more from each other and demand more from themselves.

"It is only six or seven days ago we went to Celtic Park and put in a real spirited effort and showed good togetherness.

"On Saturday, we were looking around. Hamilton were first to the ball, second balls. They had a spirit and energy about them that we couldn't match, and didn't match."
