KENNY BLACK is still refusing to rule out taking on the Motherwell job full-time - but yesterday he also suggested he might have half an eye on joining Stuart McCall as his No.2 at his next club.

Black, in caretaker charge while the club's ownership is resolved, oversaw Well's home win over Dundee United two weeks ago.

The Fir Park hierarchy have since told him he'll have the reins at least until Well's Scottish Cup tie at home to Dundee United on November 29.

Black insisted he has not decided yet whether to put himself forward as a candidate for the job.

And he admitted that if McCall makes a quick return to football he would have to think long and hard if his former boss made him an offer.

He explained: "I had a conversation with Stuart. We had four terrific years here and you get used to having someone with you to bounce things off.

"We were a tight unit here and thought we'd be here for a longer spell or even leave together. But now Stuart's away - that's what happens in football. You can never predict it."

Motherwell travel north today to take on an Inverness side sitting joint top of the Premiership.

But Black believes that after his side broke their five-game losing streak in the league against United they are now capable of taking on another of the division's high-flyers.

He said: "The response I got from the players two weeks ago was excellent and their commitment really, really pleased me.

"After getting those three points by beating United I now hope we can go and express ourselves a wee bit more."
