THE Scottish Premier League are close to agreeing a £60million deal for Sky and ESPN to show top flight matches.

A new five-year contract, with the option of a further three, is on the table that will see £12m-per-year being split amongst the 12 SPL clubs, with the SFL netting £1million for the rights to show Rangers' Irn-Bru Third Division matches.

It is understood Sky will broadcast 30 fixtures a season, with ESPN picking up 35, while Ally McCoist's Gers set to be shown at least 15 times throughout the year.

The deal will come as a huge relief to club chairmen, who were left anxious at the financial cost of Rangers' demise into the Third Division.

The proposal will now be put in front of the 12 club chiefs at a meeting on Friday, where it is likely to be agreed on.
