MORTON are set to complete the signing of former Hamilton Accies midfielder Kyle Wilkie today.
The 21-year-old has been out of contract since leaving New Douglas Park at the end of last season and has been training with the Ton in recent weeks in a bid to impress boss Allan Moore and win a move ahead of the Irn-Bru First Division campaign.
After completing the signing of former Aberdeen and St Johnstone defender Kevin Rutkiewicz on Friday, Moore has now turned his attentions to Wilkie, with the youngster set to put pen to paper on a deal to take him to Cappielow.
The Ton squad has undergone significant rebuilding during the summer, with Moore handing several of his new stars starting berths as they beat Albion Rovers 2-0 in the Ramsdens Cup at Cappielow.
Tony Wallace and David O'Brien got the goals for the Greenock club as they booked their place in the second round.
Albion defender Tony Stevenson saw red late on and Moore hailed resolute Rovers as Morton stumbled over the line.
He said: "It was a competent performance, that is all I could say.
"We got to knock the ball about against the Premier League sides [in pre-season]. But Albion didn't let us do that and from the start they got bodies behind the ball and made it very difficult."
Albion boss Todd Lumsden said: "We spoke at half-time about keeping our concentration, but it went out the window after the first goal."
