RADIO 1's Annie Mac is one of those elusive, shadowy figures described as a "tastemaker" – those so knowledgeable and urbane that their likes influence popular culture in general.

Rarely is Annie anywhere else than at the cutting edge of mainstream dance music.

Her Friday night slot on the wireless has helped to launch the careers of the likes of Magnetic Man, Plan B and Katy B, and when she's not in the presenting booth she's slaying dancefloors worldwide.

America, Australia and of course Ibiza's clubs have all been victims, and Glasgow is next to fall as The Annie Mac Presents tour hits The Arches.

She's bringing along one of electro's biggest names in Erol Alkan, rising newcomer Charli XCX, Brooklyn MC and producer Azealia Banks.

And to top this bounty of beats, Glasgow's HaHaHa provides the homegrown house.

l Annie Mac Presents, The Arches, Saturday, 11pm – 3am, £14.

Loud & proud

AT 20 years old, another Glasgow institution edges another step closer to immortality.

It's safe to argue that our indie rock scene would be much poorer were it not for Nice N Sleazy.

As well as being a constant pillar of support for emerging noise merchants, this scuzzy jewel at the top of Sauchiehall Street acts as a watering hole for the elder statesmen of the alt community.

Helping Sleazy's celebrate its score are St Deluxe – awesome purveyors of melodic noise; PAWS – supremely catchy three-minute pop punks; and Edinburgh School For The Deaf – growling shoegazers who wrap sumptuous melodies in distortion. It'll be loud, but your ringing ears will thank you later.

l 20 Years of Sleaze, Nice N Sleazy, tomorrow, 8pm – 11pm, £4 in advance.

Tim's Mr Cool

IT would be hard to name a more respected record label than DFA. Founded in New York in 2001, it became the world's hippest imprint by releasing records from disco punks such as The Rapture, Hercules & Love Affair and Hot Chip.

Tim Sweeney, below left, interned at DFA's studio before contributing mixes for their compilations, and becoming tour DJ for LCD SS and The Rapture.

He's been a DJ since the age of 15, tearing up parties in Baltimore, Washington DC and New York City at an age when I was still getting asked for ID to get in Fury Murray's. This makes him infinitely cooler than pretty much all of us.

l Melting Pot with Tim Sweeney, The Admiral, Saturday, 11pm – 4am, £10.

Buff Jillionaire

IF you can only make one Caribbean dancehall party on Tuesday, best make it this one.

Killer Kitsch and and Muck have conspired to bring Trinidadian DJ/producer The Jillionaire to The Buff Club, where he'll be kicking off his European tour.

l The Jillionaire, Buff Club, Tuesday, 8th Nov, 11pm – 3am, £4.
