CLUBS: Hello, Hogmanay!

THERE'S no Hogmanay street party in George Square this year, so Edinburgh will take the crown for biggest outdoor bash – but there's no way the capital can compete with the abundance of Hogmanay clubs on offer here.

There are so many potential ways to bring in 2012 it could make your head spin.

Perhaps the most talked about New Year's Eve bash is at Optimo (Glue Factory, 10.30pm-late, £18), but what's new there? Last year they ran the last Hogmanay in the Art School, and this year they're inaugurating a new warehouse venue – an old glue factory (as the name might suggest) in Maryhill.

It's sprawling and diverse venue, with some of the original industrial apparatus still in place and a variety of cavernous and tight spaces. Safe to say it's the perfect Optimo venue and things should kick off on a rather large scale.

As if you needed to be told, the GBXperience (The Arches, 8.30pm-4am, £20) should also provide scenes of party carnage, albeit different to the arch, arty Optimo kind.

Glasgow's demigod of hardcore George Bowie headlines in the main arch, while Korsakoff (the biggest female hardcore DJ in the world, we're assured) takes over in the BTTF room.

Down by the Clyde, Bigfoot's Hogmanay (The Riverside, 100 Stobcross Road, 6pm-3.30am, sold out) promises deep techno in a unique location, and free stovies.

Over at Eastvale Place, One More Tune (SWG3, 7pm-2am, £15) welcomes the mysterious Italo disco duo Tiger & Woods, and reggae, dub and dancehall warriors Chungo Bungo.

At Pin-Ups Hogmanay Ball (Flying Duck, 9pm-4am, £10) they've been pretending to be Aidan Moffat at The Bells for three years. Now, the man himself, Falkirk's finest, has relented and agreed to be their tall, dark and handsome first-footer DJ alongside a DJ set from The Twilight Sad.

Club Noir (The Classic Grand, 9pm-4am, £20) is sure to be the only above-board party featuring a six-foot striptease artist, while just round the corner at Audio (formerly Rockers) Depth Charge (Audio, 10pm- 3am, free) have a free party with the EQTV DJs.

A Hogm- anay Threesome with Melting Pot, Highlife and Divine! (The Admiral, 10pm- 4am, £12) sees three of Glasgow's best clubs join forces for a party bash of truly epic proportions, with a busy night in store for Melting Pot who will also be appearing at Hillhead Book Club's I Heart NYE (Hillhead Book Club, 8pm-1am, £5).

How could we have come so far and failed to mention Numbers x Vitamins (Stereo, 10pm-4am, £15) which brings together two of the city's hippest crews to celebrate what has been a decidedly huge year with all-out party tunes across both floors. And let's not forget Milk (Flat 0/1, Bath Street, 8pm-4am, £tbc) which has musical treats aplenty including The Lafontaines; Hogmanay In & Out The Buff (Bath Lane, 9.30pm-4am, £10), which will transform Bath Lane into a funk-fuelled outdoor dancefloor; Subculture (Sub Club, 10pm-4am, £14), which will see The Subby into its 25th year; or the Courtyard NYE Party (The Courtyard, 6pm-1.30am, £10) which has electro, house and a drink on the house at The Bells.

Cheers, and see you all sometime in 2012!
