LOOK out for The Ads, whose new single Maybe Tonight is out this week.
The limited edition seven-inch vinyl single (and download for the needle-phobic) is the latest from the King Tut's Recordings label, and the second from the East Kilbride band. They have an official launch party and gig at Tut's on December 15.
Robert's rockers have real pedigree
EL DOG have a gig next Wednesday at Oran Mor with Oldsolar and Commander Keen.
For those who don't know, the post-rock quartet's frontman Robert Paul Rafferty was named after two members of The Blue Nile - Robert Bell and Paul Buchanan, who were family friends - and Tinseltown In The Rain was written in his parents' front room.
Robert hooked up with band members Jim Mango, Alan Peacock and Calum Scott at Nice N Sleazy's famous open mic night, and they have lately been compared to an eclectically solid bunch of rockers including Muse, Led Zep, Mogwai, Biffy Clyro, Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead. Definitely worth checking out. Doors are 7.30pm.
Cash in on Crimbo
While we wholeheartedly back the wonderful Malcolm Middleton and the burgeoning online campaign to get him to No1 for Christmas with his single We're All Going To Die (out on December 17), Weegie label Framingo Records are also urging folk to lay a bet on their London signings The Skuzzies.
Although it's highly unlikely the Skuzzies will reach No1, all-hail Framingo for giving their Shotgun EP a festive nudge.
