THE Scotland Under-21 netball squad has been announced ahead of this summer's international competition.

The new line-up will compete at the World Youth Netball Championships at Glasgow's Emirates Arena from August 22 to August 31.

In the squad are Beverly Campbell, Gillian Crozier, Lynsey Gallagher, Laura Gibson, Emily Gray, Emma Hardie, Sarah Kerr, Shaunagh McCuaig, Nicola McCleery, Erin McQuarrie, Jo Pettitt and Bethany Sutherland.

Lynsey Gallagher, who is being tipped as a potential squad member for the Scottish Thistles at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, will be one to watch as will Bev Campbell, who is already in the Scottish Thistles squad.

The 2013 WYNC will feature some of the best young netball players from around the world.

Host nation Scotland will battle it out against 19 other countries from as far afield as Singapore, in a bid to be crowned the best in the world at under-21 level.

Among the nations set to go for gold are netball giants New Zealand, England, Australia and Jamaica.

The 10-day event, which is part of UK Sport's £27million Gold Event Series, is the first world netball event to be staged in Scotland since 1987.

Maggie Murray, chief executive officer netball Scotland, congratulated the squad, adding: "This event represents the dawn of their career as elite athletes and is just a step away from the opportunity to represent Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in 2014."
