KRIS BOYD has set his sights on becoming the highest scorer in SPL history after hitting treble figures with his Old Firm glory goal last weekend.

And the bad news for former club Kilmarnock is that the 23-year-old aims to launch his mission to overtake Henrik Larsson when they arrive at Ibrox on Sunday.

Boyd scored his 100th SPL goal after finding the net for the first time in his career against the Hoops at Ibrox.

Some believed the hit-man had already reached the magical figure, but he was on 99 as a goal he scored during his time at Rugby Park was later credited as an OG.

Now, the Scotland marksman has his sights firmly trained on going after the Celtic legend's record of 158 SPL goals.

Given his age and track record, Boyd could be capable of reaching that inside two seasons if he continues the form that has seen him emerge as one of the most prolific scorers this country has produced.

Boyd said: "It's always in your mind when you are getting close to a landmark. You read and hear about it, and want to do it. I was determined to get into triple figures and I managed to do that against Celtic.

"The natural thing now is to look at the next target. That's what I'll do, look at reaching 150 and beyond that. That's what strikers do, you go after things."

With 26 goals this season, despite missing half-a-dozen games with an ankle injury at the turn of the year, Boyd has fallen short of his stunning 39 strikes last season.

But the striker's confidence is soaring after he broke his Celtic duck last Saturday. And he wants to inflict more pain on the side who set him on the road to stardom after banging in eight goals in five games against Killie since leaving them in January 2006 in a £450,000 deal.

"I'll be looking to score again on Sunday. I always do," Boyd smiled. "Kilmarnock have done really well this season, and the players haven't changed much since I left 18 months ago.

"Jim Jefferies and Billy Brown have done a fantastic job again keeping them in the top six for another season. It's a credit to everyone down there.

"But we want to stay unbeaten as long as we can. We are 15 without loss in the SPL and want to win the next two games against Killie and Aberdeen and finish the season on a high."

Boyd's season will run on into Scotland duty. After a transatlantic trip to LA for Rangers' friendly against Galaxy, he will return for the friendly against Austria and the crucial Euro 2008 qualifier in the Faroe Islands on June 6.

And the Rangers contingent in the national team squad will be swelled after Charlie Adam and Alan Hutton were today named in the squad.

Boyd admits to being very impressed by the form and application of both youngsters.

He said: "I don't think Charlie has been getting the credit due for his goals this season. A return of 14 is exceptional for a midfielder in his first season."

THE striker continued: "I think half of his goals have been from free-kicks, and I don't think anyone in the league will have matched that. Charlie works hard on that side of his game, and got the reward with an Old Firm goal.

"I hear people saying he had sclaffed it. That's nonsense, you could tell he knew exactly what he was doing last Saturday.

"As for Alan, he's been unbelievable in the past few months. He's been storming up and down the wing, creating chances and is bang in form. It's a credit to him - he has worked really hard on his game."

Boyd shared a few jokes with assistant boss Ally McCoist over the past week, which included Walter Smith taking his squad for a golf day on Wednesday.

The Rangers legend had geed up the striker and predicted he would get the goal against Celtic he longer for.

Boyd laughed: "It's been nice to look back on the goal - it was a special moment for me. Scoring against Celtic was something I dreamed of since I was a kid.

"Now Coisty says I only have 26 to go to match his Old Firm record of 27."
