A MAN has been shot dead at a pub just months after his son was stabbed to death.

Thomas Cameron, 48, was gunned down in the car park of the Auchinairn Tavern in Bishopbriggs just after he had started his shift at the pub. He was shot in the head and paramedics battled to save the father-of-three.

He was rushed to nearby Stobhill Hospital, but lost his fight for life a short time later.

The gunman opened fire just before 7pm and it's thought he may have been lying in wait for Thomas, known as Tam.

It's thought Tam may have been involved in a feud and two weeks ago there as a confrontation involving Irish customers in the bar.

The attack comes just 18 months after his son Ross, 20, was stabbed to death after being attacked by four men during a fight outside a New Year party at a house in Crowhill Road, Bishopbriggs.

Last October, Andrew Burns, 21, was jailed for nine years after been convicted of culpable homicide over the stabbing.

Last night police searched the area following the shooting and a helicopter was seen hovering above the pub.

It's understood police will be examining CCTV footage taken from cameras outside the pub which were installed after it recently had its windows smashed.

Last night's murder took place just yards from where two men were gunned down in a gangland feud last November.

Kevin Carroll, 26, and 25-year-old Ross Sherlock were shot while visiting friends in Clelland Avenue, Auchinairn.

They were seriously wounded and taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
