The club’s Sunday night dance was no doubt a highlight of the week for the local lads and lasses and although the old club hall was hardly the Dennistoun Palais, they knew how to dance.

These jitterbug fans certainly put on a show, although there are more than a few wallflowers in evidence … no doubt they were taking time to eye up their favoured target before asking for a birl around the floor.

Remember, this was the period before the rock’n’roll revolution, and most of the teenagers present look like mini versions of their mums and dads; with all the boys in sports jackets, shirts and ties and all the girls in ‘sensible’ dresses.

Little did the young dancers know what was just around the corner.
