By MARIANNE TAYLOR ASHELY Jensen may not have beaten Glasgow actress Michelle Gomez to be crowned Britain's funniest woman - but she still has a chance of the last laugh later this month.

Green Wing star Michelle won the funnywoman crown at a glittering ceremony in London ahead of her fellow Scot, who is up for a gong at the Scottish Style Awards.

Jensen and comedienne Catherine Tate were both beaten to the top award at the annual LAFTA event in London by 36-year-old joker Michelle, who is married to Pirates of the Caribbean star Jack Davenport.

But Jensen, who won the same award last year, may get her turn at the star-studded event being held at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow on October 26.

The Extras actress, who is currently wowing audiences on both sides of the Atlantic in the US comedy Ugly Betty, faces competition from the likes of Harry Potter star Katie Leung to be named Most Stylish Female.

Supermodel Elle MacPherson - nicknamed The Body - has already confirmed she will strut her stuff at the bash, which celebrates the movers and shakers in Scotland's design and fashion world.

Other categories on the night include the nation's most stylish hotel, restaurant, boutique food emporium and most stylish male.

The fashion designer of the year will also be named.

Among the other winners at the LAFTA's were Justin Lee Collins, who scooped two awards, for Funniest Man and Funniest Double Act, alongside partner Alan Carr, and comedian Vic Reeves.
