BILLY NELSON has admitted his excitement at showcasing his fight stable at tonight's Dalziel Park show.

The respected trainer is putting on a four-fight bill which will provide a platform for several of the rising stars from his gym, with WBO world lightweight champion Ricky Burns guest of honour.

Nelson was also keen to put on record his gratitude to city promoter Alex Morrison for his help in putting on the sell-out dine and fight evening.

He said: "I am really looking forward to this evening's show and I owe big Alex a huge thanks for all his help with regard to the promotion of the show.

"This gives me the perfect opportunity to showcase some of the best up-and-coming talent in the Fighting Scots gym.

"We will have David Brophy, Rhys Pagan and Sean Watson all featuring in contests that will really pose a challenge for them.

"On top of that a young guy by the name of Ryan Green, who will be on the next Prizefighter show, will also be well matched against Dalton Miller.

"So these lads are getting an opportunity that has only happened because of the help and guidance I have had from big Alex.

"He has forgotten more than I know about promoting and managing fighters and that has been invaluable ahead of tonight's show in Motherwell."

Nelson is particularly excited about welterweight prospect Pagan, who will have his second professional fight against a Polish top-10 rated opponent, after making his pro debut last month with a first round knock-out.

The trainer added: "Rhys is a special talent and we have taken a wee chance in matching him against a highly-rated Polish rival. But that is how much faith I have in him."
