RANGERS legend Ian Durrant has told the Ibrox club's fans they can expect to see more young guns make their debut before the end of the season.

Several products of the Murray Park youth system, including Rhys McCabe, Andrew Mitchell and Ross Perry, have broken into Ally McCoist's first-team squad this term.

Their involvement has been due to injuries and suspensions – and the fact McCoist has been unable to strengthen his squad with new signings due to financial problems.

But the kids have more than held their own in the senior game and are being tipped to enjoy successful careers for the Light Blues.

And Gers coach Durrant feels teenage midfielder Lewis MacLeod, who was an unused substitute in the 2-1 win over Motherwell at Fir Park a fortnight ago, is also set to come through.

The former Scotland internationalist has, too, tipped Barrie McKay to to follow in the footsteps of McCabe, Mitchell and Perry.

Durrant told Blues News: "Young Lewis was so close to playing [against Motherwell] but he'll be there before the end of the season.

"Rangers fans will get a glimpse of him and I think he's one of our top talents. Barrie McKay is in the squad too and the lads are getting a chance because they're due it.

"They have come in and shown the manager they can train with the first team. If you can cope with that, the next step is to play with them too.

"The two of them are not too far away and I'm looking forward to seeing Lewis playing for Rangers. I can see he is going to be a top, top talent if everything goes well for him."
