NEW Labour councillor Rashid Hussain welcomed a special new member of his campaign team on polling day.
Mr Hussain was out knocking on doors on Thursday morning when he received a phone call saying his wife Aisha was about to give birth at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
He handed over his election pamphlets and raced to be at his wife's side and within hours was father to an 8lb baby boy, Adam.
Mr Hussain, who is already a father of three, had further cause for celebration the following day when he was elected as one of four candidates to represent Greater Pollok.
A friend of the family said: "The baby was born shortly after he arrived. Mother and son are doing well."
