THE Arches and Campus won Lifetime achievement awards when 85 Glasgow pubs, clubs and venues were honoured at the 2012 Best Bar None awards.
Around 250 guests saw the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards presented to the licensees of rated venues at a ceremony in the Grand Central Hotel
For the first time, the plaudits also included Lifetime Achievement awards for the Arches (in the Venue category) and Gavin McGreish, the manager of Campus (Desginated Premises Manager category).
The new honour was introduced in recognition of venues that have consistently won Gold awards.
The Best Bar None awards are led by Glasgow Community and Safety Services (GCSS) and recognise licensees who take steps to prevent problems such as binge drinking and anti-social behaviour.
Venues that sign up to the scheme are inspected by Strathclyde Police's licensing teams.
They also are judged on criteria that includes the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, and the protection of children.
Phil Walker, managing director of GCSS, said: "This year's awards have been a resounding success and the increasing number of awards is testament to the prestige of this initiative and to the hard work of the licensees.
"It is fitting their efforts are recognised because they contribute greatly to the quality of Glasgow's hugely popular social scene."
