A firefighter was taken to hospital after he was assaulted while responding to a 999 call.
He was kicked in the face as crews went to evacuate a man from a kitchen fire in a flat in Tolbooth Wynd, Leith, yesterday afternoon.
The firefighter, who was the driver of the responding fire engine, was taken to hospital with a cut to his chin.
Police later took the attacker into custody.
Four firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze.
