HE may be aged only five but Joseph Thoumire joined with 5000 singers in a Rock Choir.

As part of the first Scotland Sings event, the Milngavie youngster joined the fun to celebrate St Andrew's Day.

The event, arranged by Hands up for Trad, aimed to get Scotland singing.

Simon Thoumire, creative director of Hands Up for Trad and Joesph's dad, said: "We've been blown away with the response to the campaign and are excited to have had thousands singing.

"We're very excited about what the future for Scotland Sings."

The campaign was launched by singer and Evening Times columnist, Michelle McManus, who said: "Scotland Sings is a fantastic initiative and I was delighted to be part of it.

"Campaigns such as this bring home the benefits of singing.

"If we can get more people socialising, singing and having fun, then that's what it's all about."
