A CITY style team is promising to get shoppers ready for their Christmas party in just half an hour.

John Lewis Glasgow has set up a pop-up party parlour in the ladies department for the festive season in a bid to help people choose a whole outfit on their lunch break.

Fashion advisors are on hand to offer advice and pick the perfect party dress, shoes, accessories and cover-ups.

To add to the party atmosphere, beauty brand Clinique is giving out tips on how to pull off popular make-up looks.

Jacki Currie, 28, from Govanhill, put the service to the test as she attempted to find an outfit for her work Christmas night out this weekend.

The NHS receptionist was given advice from fashion advisor Tricia Chennell on what would suit her before the pair picked out a selection of clothes.

Jacki said: "A little extra help picking an outfit is a such a bonus. I tend to go for the same outfit all the time.

"I always pick shift dresses, usually in black, and team it with really high heels because I'm quite short."

With the help of Tricia, Jacki picked a red dress from Ted Baker, black suede shoes from Dune and a John Lewis faux fur cover up.

Jacki was impressed with the speed of her shopping trip.

She added: "To have an outsider's opinion is really useful. It helps you to break out of your comfort zone. Tricia picked out things I wouldn't normally go for, like colours.

"I would have never worn red because I thought it didn't suit me but I really enjoyed wearing it."

The pop-up party parlour is in the store until Christmas Eve.

Tricia said: "What we hope to do is attract ladies who perhaps don't have much time at lunch time and they can pop in and see party wear with accessories alongside.

"If you have everything there together you can make an ideal outfit for the whole of Christmas."

Tricia said the outfits could take people through the whole of the festive season.

She said: "You could dress an outfit up or down with nice accessories and different types of shoes and bags.

"Or you could pay a visit to the haberdashery and look for some trimmings."
