GLASGOW shoppers are being urged to buy local to support city talent.

Mari Ebbitt, 23, and Ruth Gilmour, 22, set up their business to promote talented designers and artists across the city.

And now Saltmarket will stage its first sale – in the West End.

The group, which represents firms, including jewellery and homeware designers Phillips and Young, cake decorator Rachel Barron and illustrator Sally Hackett, will pop-up in Bikram Studios in Byres Road tomorrow, as well as other dates throughout December.

To celebrate the launch of the concept store the group will welcome customers with cocktails and home baking.

Shoppers will be able to view collections on sale, including jewellery, prints and Christmas cards, and chat with the designers.

Glasgow School of Art graduate Mari, from Cambuslang, said: "Saltmarket promotes designers and makers who have a strong connection to Glasgow and we want to showcase them."
