DETECTIVES were today continuing their investigation into the death of a man found injured in a Glasgow street.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was discovered with injuries in Viewpoint Road, Springburn, at 9.40am yesterday.

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, but later died.

A post-mortem examination to determine the cause of the man's death is due to take place.

Police said an investigation was under way and urged anyone with any information to contact officers.

A police spokeswoman said: "The death is currently being treated as unexplained, pending a post mortem examination. Our inquiries are ongoing."

Meanwhile, a probe was under way today after a man was seriously assaulted in Glasgow.

The 28-year-old was walking in Govan Road, near to Holmfauldhead Place, Linthouse, when he was attacked by a man.

It happened at around 12.12am yesterday.

Emergency services raced to the scene and the victim was taken by ambulance to the Southern General Hospital.

Hospital staff described his condition as "serious but stable".

Police said the suspect was seen getting out a black Hackney taxi outside The Gazelle public house with another man and a woman.

The suspect is described as white, 6ft tall and of thin build, with fair hair.
