SMOKERS are being given extra help to quit as a national campaign launches today.

Supermarket giant Asda has joined forces with the Scottish Govern- ment for the initiative.

Asda customers will have access to lung-ageing and carbon monoxide tests at store pharmacies and – with a 20-a-day smoker spending on average £50 a week on cigarettes – a cost calculator will also be available.

Scottish Government representatives will be visiting seven Asda pharmacies across Scotland from Monday.

The Evening Times' Clear The Air campaign with health boards in Glasgow and Lanarkshire has been praised by health bosses.
