A WOMAN who went to desperate lengths to cover up the killing of her lover has been jailed for nine years.

Alan Kopp, 30, bled to death after being stabbed in the back at his home in Hillhouse, Hamilton. His family faced weeks of agony, not knowing how or why he'd died.

Susan Colquhoun, 42, dialled 999 and claimed Mr Kopp had staggered home injured after being attacked in the street.

Mr Kopp's death led to police questioning more than 400 witnesses but a court heard later that Colquhoun told a friend: "We were arguing and it broke into a fight."

At the High Court in Edinburgh, Judge Lady Stacey told Colquhoun she had made things worse for Mr Kopp's family by lying to police.
