MORE than 10,000 people have already put their names forward to take part in Glasgow 2014.

And with seven weeks to the closing date for volunteers for the Commonwealth Games, the number is increasing every hour.

Organisers have welcomed the response to the campaign to recruit 15,000 people to help with the running of the sports extravaganza.

Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg said: "We have been delighted by the initial response to our call for volunteers for the Games.

"I am happy to say that the volunteering spirit is definitely alive and well and we have had more than 10,000 people apply within the first 12 hours.
