A COUNCIL wants to take over the Hall's sausage plant when it shuts in a bid to regenerate the area.
West Lothian Council has asked owners Vion's board to donate the Broxburn site so that the area can be regenerated.
The council wants to use it to help create jobs for the 1700 Halls staff.
The Dutch food company said they are currently considering the request from council leader John McGinty.
Vion said: "The board are giving their request careful consideration."
