A GLASGOW MSP has started a search for a school pupil to take up a paid work experience placement in his office.

Last year the post went to Campbell Mills, a 5th year pupils at Kings Park Secondary, who assisted Mr Dornan and his staff with his parliamentary and constituency duties.

Mr Dornan today revealed he will be repeating the internship and has opened up the contest to senior pupils in local schools

Speaking in the Scottish Parliament, he said: "Last year, I thought that I was fortunate with the group of youngsters who came before me, but this year the standard has, if anything, improved.

"Young people's academic standards and commitment not only to their studies but to their wider community are lessons to us all.

"I have no doubt that the winner will bring much to my office."

He asked Angela Constance, Minister for Youth Employment to provide an information pack for MSPs to engage with business and young people

Ms Constance accepted the invitation to help MSPs promote youth employment to businesses in their area.

She said: "Given the challenges that businesses of all sizes face, we must make it easier for them to employ young people.

"In that regard, James Dornan made an important suggestion about an information pack that could go to members of the Scottish Parliament, I will therefore go away and look at how we can devise an information pack for constituency and list MSPs that will actively assist them in their work in their own communities and constituencies."
