A member of a drugs gang who operated cocaine factories from their homes has had almost £4000 confiscated under Proceeds of Crime legislation.

Michael Fernandez, 47, was ordered to hand over £3965 following a hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Fernandez, of Mother- well, was jailed for four years and two months last November after being convicted alongside four other men of drug dealing.

The fitness trainer appeared in court alongside Scott Mather, 42, of Summerston, Glasgow; Kristopher Murray, 22, of Knightswood, Glasgow; Joseph Shields, 29, of Springboig, Lanarkshire and James Fox, 37, of Bellshill, Lanarkshire, of being concerned in the supply of drugs throughout 2011.

Judge Lord Matthews ordered the five to serve more than 24 years in prison.

During the trial, the court heard how police raided Fernandez's home in October 2011.

Officers seized a total of £1.5million of drugs from the crooks.

A prosecution lawyer said Fernandez had made £3965 from his drug dealing.

Lord Boyd ordered Fernandez to hand the sum over.
