TEN more Blockbuster stores in Scotland are to shut with the loss of around 50 jobs.

Administrators brought in to oversee the video hire firm after its collapse say a second phase of closures would result in 164 shops shutting across the UK in the coming weeks.

The decision comes after 160 were wound down, 23 in Scotland, after the announcement the chain had called in the administrators.

Shops to close include outlets in Greenock, Paisley and Ayr.

The remaining 13 Blockbuster shops in Scotland will continue to trade while administrators seek a buyer for the chain.

Staff in the stores affected will be given a redundancy package.

An employee helpline is in place and the firm is running an employee assistance programme to help them find other employment.
