A man has reportedly confessed to raping a Scottish woman in Thailand.
The 20-year old woman, from Lochaber, told police she was gang-raped after a night out.
Thai police said local man had admitted assaulting the woman who was lying semi-conscious outside her room.
The woman has told a court she cannot identify the man who is said to have carried out the attack on Saturday morning.
The Foreign Office said it was providing consular assistance to the woman, who wants to return to Scotland.
Officers in Nakhon Si Thammarat, in the south of the country, said the woman had been drinking and causing a disturbance and was escorted out of a bar to the room she was renting close by.
She was asked to appear in court to identify the man who admitted assaulting her but she said she could remember very little of what happened.
It is likely the man will be charged on the basis of his confession.
