TIME is running out to find the people who make West and Central Glasgow buzz.

We want to hear about the inspiring individuals and extraordinary teams making a difference to your life for our Community Champions awards.

So tell us about them today by filling in an entry form on our website or calling us for a hard copy of the form. Entries must reach us by Thursday.

Our postbag is already brimming with nominations for deserving people. These include Trongate inclusive arts organ-isation Project Ability, which helps adults and children with disabilities and mental health issues to achieve their potential.

Glasgow West Crime Prev-ention Panel and Neighbourhood Watch Association co-founder Margaret Riddell, better known as Greta, has been nominated in the Senior category for her efforts in driving down crime.

Gibson Street Gala organiser Eric Kay is dedicated to keeping Hillhead looking spick and span, and does it with a smile.

Similarly, a contender for our Public Service trophy, GHA employee Deborah Gibson org-anised a mini-Commonwealth Games at Scotstoun Stadium attended by 700 children, while the Donald Dewar Day Care Centre has offered a lifeline to senior citizens for 18 years.

Readers in the West & Central area, home to around 141,000 people, strongly support our Community Champion events.

Last year, hundreds packed Glasgow University Union's Debating Chamber to see joint Senior category winners Kate Semple and Eric Flack, who have together clocked up 110 years of community action.

Glasgow City Council leader Gordon Matheson said: "As our new city brand exemplifies – People Make Glasgow – the Community Champion Awards are a fantastic way of celebr-ating the many unsung heroes."

There's no limit on the number of nominations you can make, and we welcome entries from previous nominees and winners. Representatives from Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Community Planning Partner-ship, GHA, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Serv-ice, and your Evening Times will create a shortlist.

Everyone is welcome at an awards ceremony at a venue in the West and Central commun-ity on August 22.
