Entertainer John Barrowman has said he is looking forward to teaming up with The Krankies for a fourth time as they launched their latest pantomime.

The Glasgow-born actor is returning to the city with the comedy due, Janette Tough and her husband Ian, to appear in Dick McWhittington at the SECC Clyde Auditorium.

The trio have had three successful appearances together, in Jack And The Beanstalk, Robinson Crusoe And The Caribbean Pirates and Aladdin.

Barrowman, 46, said he is buying a property in Glasgow due to his work commitments in Scotland.

"My husband Scott and I are looking for a house here because most of the TV shows I film for the BBC are filmed at BBC Scotland and that is a choice of mine. Also, with the pantomime being up here, we figure that rather than staying in a hotel, we will buy a house," the Torchwood star said.

"We want one by the sea and within an hour of the Glasgow area. We are past apartment living. We want a house."

Coming to Glasgow and being back with The Krankies is like being part of a family, he said.

"It works really well and hopefully it will continue to work every year when we come back."

Janette, whose alter ego is Wee Jimmy Krankie, said: "He keeps saying we are like his mum and dad, and Ian makes him soup every day."

Ian said: "John has the same humour as us so he fits into anything we write. He was Scottish born and bred and he has obviously been brought up in a household of Glasgow humour."

The couple, both 66, say they enjoy doing the pantomime in Glasgow as it is part of their heritage and the jokes work better done in their own accents.

Janette said: "We have worked all over Britain and in places like Australia but the best place to work is where your own dialect is from, because you relax in your own tongue and you don't have to worry about an audience getting it."

Dick McWhittington runs from Saturday December 14 to Sunday January 5.
