TOP athletes from across the world will line up in front of a sell-out crowd in Glasgow today.

A total of 44 Olympic, Paralympic and world medallists will compete at the Sainsbury's Glasgow International Match at the Emirates Arena.

For the first time, Scotland will have a team on home soil, captained by world 4x400m bronze medallist Eilidh Child.

They will go head to head against athletes from GB and NI, USA and a Commonwealth Select squad.

The competitions will be broadcast live on BBC One and via the BBC website from 1.45pm.

Eilidh, 26, from Cumbernauld, said: "The first race of the year is always a funny one and I like to use it to see where I am, because when I opened here last year I ran 52.8 but then ended the season running 51.3, so you can't really tell too much."

William Sharman, who finished fifth in the final of the 110m hurdles at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow last summer, will captain GB and NI.

Kim Collins, the 2003 100m world champion, will captain the Commonwealth Select team and will compete in the 150m.
