ALMOST 10,000 people in Scotland have needed help with problems over energy bills in the last 12 months - and advisers say rising bills and fuel poverty have contributed to a significant increase in inquiries.

A total of 9869 people went to Citizens Advice Bureaux about energy worries - up from 9500 in 2011/12.

The Scottish Government said it had spent £220million on programmes to reduce fuel poverty and improve energy efficiency since 2009.
