A TEAM of midwives from Ayrshire and Arran has won one of the UK's top midwifery prizes.
Elaine Moore and Mary Garven won the Vitabiotics Pregnacare Award at the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Annual Awards.
They were praised for launching a vulnerable families maternity project. The service provides women exper-iencing difficulties with a designated mid-wife to support them.
The judges described the project as "totally inspiring, innovative and passionate." They said the team identified a problem and did something about it.
