Around 600 temporary jobs are to be created in sales of merchandise at the Commonwealth Games.

People are wanted to work at stalls across all the sporting venues and a host of pop-up units throughout Glasgow during the Games this summer.

Venue Retail 2014 Limitied (VRL) is the company overseeing all aspects of the merchandising, from running shops, online sales and granting sub-licenses to other retailers.

The majority of the jobs will run over the 11 days of competition starting on July 23, but around 120 jobs will begin before the Games to prepare stalls and stock a city centre "megastore".

Venue Retail are looking for shop workers, supervisors and managers to work in 40 venues during the Games. The recently launched Team Scotland kit will be sold in the temporary shops and stalls along with Team England and Team Wales clothing and a range of items from the 17 sports that make up the Games.

The majority of the management team at VRL ran the merchandise programme at London 2012, overseeing hundreds of stalls in the Olympic Park and a main store in Hyde Park.

Human resources manager Nicola Porter- Smith said: "This is an outstanding opportunity to work on the retailing of the official Games merchandise and to play a key part in what will be the UK's largest sporting event this year.

"We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic staff, and the work experience alone will be invaluable in particular to anyone looking for their first job."
