A FILM set in Glasgow and written and directed by Belle & Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch has won a prize at the Sundance Film Festival.

The festival, in Utah, USA, honoured Murdoch's musical 'God Help The Gir'l by awarding it a uniquely-worded trophy.

The festival jury awarded the film the 'World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for the Delightful Ensemble Performance, and How the Director Brought His Own Unique Universe into Cinema.'

The film stars Emily Browning, Olly Alexander and Hannah Murray and tells the tale of a group of young musicians in Glasgow.

It has not yet been given a UK release date.
