Team bosses from all 70 nations and territories competing in the Commonwealth Games are arriving in Glasgow for a final preparatory seminar ahead of the event.

The chefs de mission and senior members of the Commonwealth Games Associations will be given all the information they need for their teams during the four-day seminar.

The programme will take them through the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games experience from the perspective of the athletes, from arrival and preparation through to competition, ceremonies, check-out and final travel arrangements.

They will visit the Emirates Arena, the Velodrome, athletes' village and Hampden Park as part of their familiarisation with the venues.

David Grevemberg, chief executive of Glasgow 2014, said: "It is with great pleasure and excitement that we welcome the heads of all 70 Commonwealth Games national teams, the chefs de mission, to Glasgow for the final preparatory seminar before the Games.

"This is an ideal time for Glasgow 2014 and its partners to showcase the venues now in situ and the plans for Games time, both critical for ensuring teams are ready to support the delivery of an athlete-centred, sport-focused Commonwealth Games.

"We remain confident in our delivery and look forward to a week of successful meetings."

The visitors will be welcomed this evening with a civic reception hosted by Glasgow's Lord Provost Sadie Docherty.

Chefs de mission are the main point of contact for the Organising Committee during the games and manage all the preparation and knowledge their team needs for the event.

Jon Doig, chef de mission for Scotland, said: "The seminar this week is a great chance for the chefs de mission to ask any last-minute questions they have and to meet face-to-face with the team from the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee.

"I think the chefs de mission will enjoy the interactive nature of the week and the many venues which will be covered.

"Hampden, in particular, will be of real interest with the transformation and the new-look track installation, as will the athletes' village."

The Commonwealth Games take place from July 23 to August 3.
