POLICE today warned clubbers about a potentially deadly batch of a mystery new drug.
The pills - dubbed 'Pink Superman' - contain dangerous levels of the toxic stimulant para-methoxyamphetamine (PMA).
The exact contents of the Superman pills are unknown, but officers believe they could contain a cocktail of different substances.
PMA can be toxic especially at high doses or when combined with other drugs and alcohol.
It is thought there have been dozens of deaths involving the dangerous stimulant in "party pills" over the past decade.
The deaths of seven young Scots last summer were linked to the 'Green Rolex' version of the pills, which are often sold as ecstasy.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman, said: "Please be aware of a dangerous "ecstasy" type tablet reported to currently be in circulation in the West of Scotland.
"Some of these tablets have been recovered, examined and found to contain para-methoxyamphetamine (PMA).
"PMA has previously been connected to a number of serious adverse reactions and fatalities."
