SHOPPERS in Hamilton are Scotland's most savvy when it comes to taking advantage of online bargains.

The South Lanarkshire town has been named as the online bargain capital of Scotland, according to new research.

Research by NetVoucherCodes.co.uk has revealed the town tops the list with more web savvy shoppers per head of population than big cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The discount shopping website looked into the internet habits of shoppers from across the UK.

Their research reveals for the first time a top 10 league table for online bargain hunting in Scotland.

Glasgow come sin at number seven, one place below the capital.

Inverness is in second place behind Hamilton.

The research showed that one in 138 people in Hamilton are actively searching for online deals.

It was the only Scottish town to feature in the top 10 locations for the whole of the UK - a list that was topped by Croydon in Surrey.

Hamilton managed ninth place in the whole of the UK.

A spokesman for NetVoucherCodes.co.uk said: "The league table showed that Hamilton in particular seems to be rife with savvy shoppers.

"A big number of its residents are choosing to shop online. Bargain hunters of Hamilton, we salute you."
