A RARE sculpture of a seagull by renowned Scots artist George Wyllie has sold for £1200 at auction in Glasgow.
The 'George' artwork, which was gifted to a friend when he helped the sculptor with an installation at the Glasgow Garden Festival in the 1980s, was one of the highlights in McTear's Scottish Contemporary Art Auction, yesterday.
For the past quarter of a century George has watched over the Gourock Yacht Club from his perch on Moorfield Road. He was snapped up by an anonymous buyer.
