BUDDING business buffs shared their journey to success on the big screen at the premiere of a new documentary.

Special guests from across Scotland attended the screening of 'Entrepreneuring is...' - a film based on the start-up accelerator programme Entrepreneurial Spark, at Cineworld in Glasgow.

Among them were Glasgow City Council leader Gordon Matheson and Gordon Merrylees of RBS.

Filmed over the last five months, the film offers an insight into the life of an entrepreneur in Scotland.

Eleven start-up businesses from across Glasgow, Edinburgh and Ayrshire participated in the documentary, produced by Up Next Studios, ranging from high-end underwear manufacturers to football tour operators and 3D advertising firms.

Some of the Glasgow businesses who took part in the documentary have been featured in the Evening Times Glasgow Means Business column, including IC Mobile and GoCoCo Coconut Water.

Jim Duffy, who founded ESpark, said: "The entrepreneurs on our programme put in so much effort and the documentary gave us an opportunity to recognise their passion and commitment."

Councillor Matheson said: "Espark is a very good example of an organisation that fosters entrepreneurs, and we wish them and the businesses they help every success."

Mr Merrylees, regional managing director at RBS Business Banking Scotland, said the business successes that are enabled by Espark "deserve to be showcased."

Backed by some of Scotland's top business leaders, including Lord Haughey, Sir Tom Hunter and Ann Gloag OBE, ESpark was founded in 2011 and became the first UK business accelerator to adapt the US-based MassChallenge project model for use in the British market.

New businesses are hot housed for five months in one of three 'hatcheries' in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Ayrshire where they receive free office space, business mentoring and advice in order to push their businesses forward.
