A MAN charged with the murder of a schoolgirl in the 1980s is expected to make his first public court appearance today.
John Docherty is accused of killing 16-year-old Elaine Doyle in Greenock on June 2, 1986.
Elaine died on her way home from a disco. Her body was later found in a lane off the town's Ardgowan Street.
Docherty is due to face the murder allegation at a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.
The 49-year-old was arrested following renewed appeals, including on the BBC Crimewatch show.
