A 54-YEAR-OLD man died after being hit by a lorry outside a Paisley school.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which occurred at around 8.35am on Monday.
The man was struck by a westbound Mercedes Benz articulated lorry on Hurlet Road, Paisley, opposite St Andrews Secondary School.
He was rushed by ambulance to the town's Royal Alexandra Hospital suffering from serious head injuries, but died shortly after admission.
Sergeant Kenny Malaney, of Police Scotland's Road Policing unit at Renfrew said: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this road crash.
"I would ask anyone who was in or around the area at the time of the incident and saw the man wearing blue jeans and a blue striped jumper or witnessed the crash to come forward.
"Any person with information is asked to contact Road Policing at Renfrew on the non emergency telephone number 101."
