OLYMPIC champion Sir Bradley Wiggins has revealed he plans to ride at the Commonwealth Games this summer.
The London 2012 Gold medallist and 2011 Tour de France champion has said he will enter the road race competition at Glasgow 2014.
He is the highest profile athlete to commit to the Games so far, with Mo Farah and Usain Bolt also expected to attend.
Jessica Ennis-Hill announced in January that she will not compete because she is pregnant.
The 2014 Tour de France finishes on Sunday, July 27, four days before the individual time trial at the Commonwealth Games.
The road race is being held on Sunday, August 3.
It is one of the non-ticketed free events at the Commonwealth Games and cycling fans will no doubt line the streets to see the sporting superstar compete.
Wiggins, 33, told Cycling News: “I haven’t got a gold medal from the Commonwealths so it would be nice to add that on. It is a couple of days after the tour so for the sake of carrying on for a few more days and doing it...”
“I forgot about the Commonwealths, I am glad you reminded me actually because I have to fill a form in or I can’t ride it. I’m down for that at the moment. It’s a nice thing to have within the UK.”
Last month Glasgow 2014 revealed the official route for the road race which will take in key sights through the city centre.
