TOURISTS planning a Thanksgiving break are being served up a cost-cutting deal.

Jet2 plans two trips from Glasgow to New York with return flights from less than £400.

Airline chiefs are to fly Scots out in time for Thanksgiving celebrations and to experience the traditional American Black Friday discounted shopping bonanza as well as a second trip three weeks before Christmas.

For the past three years, Jet2.com has taken a plane-load of Christmas shoppers from Glasgow to America's biggest city. The annual dedicated flight is usually a sell-out with 225 passengers on board.

This year, however, the airline and its sister company Jet2holidays have announced two flights to New York City.

The first is a four-night break with passengers due to touch down Stateside on Thursday, November 27, shortly before 1pm local time, in time to watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The following day signals the start of Black Friday, when many stores open at 5am for what has become the busiest shopping day of the year in America, when goods are heavily discounted. The extra Transatlantic flight was welcomed by Glasgow Airport's commercial director Francois Bourienne.

He said: "The decision to add a second flight is yet more good news from Jet2.com, which recently confirmed it will introduce a fifth dedicated aircraft at Glasgow Airport."
