A MURDER probe is under way after a woman was found dead in her Glasgow home almost a week after she was last seen.

Distraught relatives found Angela Humphrey’s body in her flat in Quarrywood Avenue, Barmulloch when they went to check on her.

Murder squad detectives are today attempting to establish the motive behind the brutal murder of the 48-year-old.

Ms Humphrey lived alone and was last seen in Balbeggie Street last Friday.

Relatives made the grim discovery was made at around 4.40pm on Wednesday.

Neighbours today told how Ms Humphrey had only recently moved into Quarrywood Avenue.

Shocked local resident Gary Buller, said: “It’s terrible, she’s only been here a few weeks.”

Police urged anyone who may have seen Ms Humphrey since last Friday to contact them.

Officers said she is known to frequent Springburn Shopping Centre and a tanning salon in Springburn Way.

Mr Buller, 45, added: “It’s not great round here but you don’t expect this.”

Floral tributes have been left outside Ms Humphrey’s home.

Police described Ms Humphrey as white, around 5ft 4in, of medium build with shoulder-length black hair.

When last seen she was wearing black-framed glasses, black trousers, and black and white trainers.

She was also said to be wearing a cream and black three-quarter length Parka-style jacket.

Ms Humphrey’s home - just yards from a bustling row of shops - remained cordoned off with police tape.

Police were guarding the two-storey block of flats and an incident van was parked outside.

Investigators were today speaking to her neighbours and reviewing CCTV footage.

One local shopkeeper, who did not wish to be named, said: “For all the years I have worked in here there has always been something happening.”

Detective Inspector Allan Burton, said: “Angela lived alone and had not been seen since last Friday, around 1pm in Balbeggie Street, Sandyhills.

“Relatives who had not seen her for a couple of days, and concerned that she had not been in touch with them, discovered her body within her home.

“We are obviously very keen to establish her whereabouts between last Friday and when she was found.”
