EVENING TIMES Scotswoman of the Year Ann Moulds spoke at a charity lunch to raise cash for survivors of domestic abuse.

Ann who pushed for changes to the law after her life was blighted by a stalker, talked at a ladies' lunch in Irvine for Break the Silence.

More than 100 women attended yesterday's fundraiser at the Menzies Hotel.

They heard from Ann and from NHS Ayrshire and Arran's former chief executive Wai-yin Hatton.

Ann , left, was introduced at the event by Sandra Brown, founder of the Moira Anderson Foundation and a former Scotswoman of the Year herself.

The pair met at our awards ceremony last month in Glasgow City Chambers and now Sandra has pledged to support Ann in developing her charity.

Sandra said: "Break the Silence celebrated its one year anniversary in 2005 and I was delighted to be invited to the celebrations to speak about the Moira Anderson Foundation.

"Since then we have been very supportive of each other and I felt that Ann would be the perfect person to talk at the ladies' lunch.

"I thought she was the perfect winner for this year's Scotswoman of the Year.

"She has been through a terrible experience and come out the other side to achieve remarkable things. She is an extremely deserving winner and she went down very well at the lunch."

Charity Break the Silence, based in Ayrshire, gives free, confidential support to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse who are from Ayrshire.

After enduring years of torment by the stalker Ann has dedicated her life to helping other victims.
